Aramco has closed a deal to acquire a 49% stake in HUMAIN, the AI company owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) Fintech News Middle East. PIF retains the remaining 51% and both parties will jointly guide the firm’s growth.
Launched in May 2025, HUMAIN is constructing data centres, cloud platforms and AI models, including ALLaM, an Arabic large-language model. The firm targets 3 GW of AI data-centre capacity by 2030 to meet regional demand. Aramco plans to integrate HUMAIN’s systems into its industrial operations and extract further value from its existing AI and digital holdings.
Yazeed A. Al-Humied, Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at PIF, said the partnership aligns with the fund’s objectives and will expand AI across its six investment areas. Amin H. Nasser, President and CEO of Aramco, noted the group has generated US$11.3 billion in “Technology Realised Value” since 2023, largely from AI solutions.
Our read: The transaction signals a coordinated push by Saudi sovereign and corporate capital to embed AI capabilities domestically, leveraging HUMAIN’s infrastructure ambitions to serve both energy-sector digitisation and broader regional compute demand.
